Kara Kranzusch chose to come to Iowa State University because it has all the offerings of a large university, while still providing the personal support of a small school. She was impressed by the fact that advisers from the two majors she was interested in sat down with her to develop a four-year degree plan, even before she committed to ISU.
When she took a class from Professor Dale Chimenti, he took an interest in Kara’s future, helping her discover a passion for astrodynamics. Through the College of Engineering, she participated in student paper competitions in Kansas, Nevada, and Japan. As a reflection of her accomplishments, she also received three co-op tours with NASA. Throughout her time at ISU, she felt the faculty truly cared about her education and career development, and was always there to help.
In Kara’s young professional career she has met and worked with many historic and influential NASA figures. It was her research and leadership experiences at Iowa State that helped Kara Kranzusch’s career take off at NASA.
